FAQs > Breadboarding and Prototyping Kits > Answers

Q1: I need to evaluate some linear devices. Which model of your Custom Circuit Kits should I use?

A1: Many linear devices require a positive and negative supply voltages. One should look for those Custom Circuit Kits that have the 4-pin modular jack, because this jack can be powered by the ±8.5V/±1A AC/DC adapter.

See PRL-950-5, PRL-950-6, PRL-970-4, PRL-970-6, PRL-980-2, PRL-980-3 and
Gigadapter Motherboards.

Q2: I need to demo a circuit idea in 48 hours. Can you ship me a Custom Circuit Kit today?

A2: Yes. Any order received before noon, PST, will be shipped the same day, provided the items are in stock.

Q3: Are your Custom Circuit Kits suitable for low noise applications?

A3: Yes, because the pcb provided in each kit has a ground plane on the component side that makes it easy to decouple the power supply lines and sensitive circuit nodes. The aluminum enclosure, when properly grounded, provides good shielding for the circuit inside.

Q4: Are your Custom Circuit Kits suitable for high-speed applications?

A4: Yes, for the same reasons given in A4 above. Furthermore, all I/O connectors are pc mount, and no long wires are needed.

Q5: Do you have any ready made power supply circuits or modules that can be plugged into the Custom Circuit Kits?

A5: Yes. There are currently five adjustable regulator SIP modules available. They are designed for the Gigadapter motherboards but are applicable in any circuit board with pads on 100-mils centers. They are listed in the Gigadapter section of the web site.

See Voltage Regulator Modules

Q6: Can I buy the components in the Custom Circuit Kits separately?

A6: Yes. Any item in the kit can be purchased separately.
See Extrusions, PCBs, End Plates

Q7: What does a custom circuit kit consists of?

A7: Each custom Circuit Kit consists of an aluminum enclosure, a pcb, pc-mount I/O connector and power jack with a power cable, when applicable, two model-specific end plates, and eight mounting screws.
